About This Blog
If you enjoy reading my diary (see under “Diary” in Left Hand Column) you can donate at: http://www.justgiving.com/normans_triandfight
This is the blog of Norman Butler, Swindon. It covers the challenges he is taking on to (1) raise money for The SMASH Youth Project, and (2) to raise awareness of their urgent need for volunteer adult mentors. For more details of SMASH please visit http://www.smash-youth-project.co.uk/.
Norman became a SMASH mentor, motivated by his own life experiences:
“I was fortunate to have people (mentors) in my life that made a difference. Some young people are not so lucky and through no fault of their own do not have the same opportunity to fulfil their potential. Sometimes we just need a little support, guidance and knowing someone is there for you.”
Any donations for SMASH appreciated. Please visit the justgiving site to support Norman and SMASH and help make a difference to vulnerable young peoples’ lives at:

“I plan to use my blog to give an insight into why I am taking on this series of challenges for The SMASH Youth Project, my progress and how I get on. I hope you find it informative, enjoyable and hopefully for one or two of you inspiring - to take on your own challenges whether they be big or small.
It took me over 20 years to finally have that self belief and take on things I only dreamed of doing until recently. Don’t put off what you can do today – follow your dreams…”
